Poor People's Campaign
July 21 @ 11:18 pm EDT

We will be rescheduling this event when we feel that it is safe to do so.

“We Cried Power,” a compelling documentary by filmmaker Dara Kell, tells the story of a bold new social movement to end poverty in the United States. Inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr. in 1968, the original Poor People’s Campaign was Dr. King’s last great work. Today, a revived Poor People’s Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival is carrying forward this work demanding an end to poverty, racism, militarization and ecological devastation.

This remarkable sneak preview is an intimate account of a “season of resistance,” told through the eyes of the mothers, veterans, preachers, and students who are the voices and founding members of this new “fusion” movement. The film bears witness to the profound process by which those without power decide not to accept their powerlessness. Instead, they claim – through protest, dance, song, and poems, through testimony and tears – their birthright: to live decent lives in the United States of America. The full length documentary will be released in the spring. Trailer https://vimeo.com/383590763/b39d6b011f
