The North Carolina Poor People’s Campaign is joining Common Cause NC and a broad coalition of partners to rally North Carolinians in response to Republican Appeals Court Judge Jefferson Griffin’s attempt to invalidate more than 60,000 votes in his lost bid for a seat on the NC Supreme Court against Justice Allison Riggs. Not only does the NC Supreme Court decide essential questions of human and civil rights for North Carolinians, this catastrophic move carries with it the dangerous precedent of retroactively changing election laws after an election to achieve a candidate’s preferred result. On February 15-17, The People v. Griffin: Defending 60,000 NC Voters will hold more than a dozen rallies to challenge Griffin and speak up against this anti-democratic ploy to change election rules.
